Position: Backend & Cloud Engineer

📍 Location: Kfar Saba, Israel

Are you a highly skilled backend developer and cloud expert looking for an exciting opportunity in a fast-growing startup? Paytag is revolutionizing retail checkout experiences by creating seamless, secure, and efficient self-checkout solutions. We’re looking for a talented, hands-on backend engineer to join our team, build our core systems, and oversee the architecture that powers the future of retail technology.

Must-Have Skills:

🐍 Python Development (Async Focus) – Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations. Must have strong, hands-on expertise with asynchronous programming, specifically asyncio and aiohttp.

☁️ Database Administration (MongoDB) – Deep expertise in database design, performance tuning, data modeling, and ongoing architecture. Requires specific proficiency in MongoDB management and optimization.

⚡ GCP (Google Cloud Platform) – Architecting, deploying, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud environments, including managing CI/CD pipelines.

🐋 Docker – Strong experience with containerization for efficient deployment and scaling of applications.

📱 Linux Admin – Highly comfortable navigating, managing, and troubleshooting Linux-based operating systems (including Bash, Netplan, and user environment configurations).

🛜 Network & Fleet Admin – Overseeing the corporate network and managing secure connections to edge devices and physical hardware deployed at client sites. Strong proficiency with core protocols (TCP/IP, WebSockets, SSH).

Advantageous Skills:

ERP & Retail Systems – Familiarity with retail operations, inventory, and Enterprise Resource Planning software.

RFID Technology – Prior experience or knowledge of working with RFID hardware and data integrations.

Web Development – Experience building or maintaining modern frontend web applications.

UI/UX Design Awareness – Basic understanding of designing user-friendly interfaces for mobile and web applications.
