We are seeking a MEMS Design Engineer with strong expertise in the design, modeling, and characterization of MEMS actuators. The successful candidate will develop innovative micro-actuation solutions for our quantum computing platform, working across device design, simulation, fabrication, and experimental validation.

Responsibilities

  • Design MEMS actuators based on electrostatic, piezoelectric, thermal, or hybrid actuation mechanisms.
  • Develop analytical and finite-element models of electromechanical devices.
  • Optimize actuator performance.
  • Perform static, dynamic, modal, harmonic, and nonlinear simulations.
  • Evaluate stability margins, and mechanical robustness.
  • Collaborate with fabrication engineers to develop manufacturable MEMS designs.
  • Design experiments and characterize fabricated devices.
  • Analyze failure mechanisms and implement design improvements.
  • Support wafer-level packaging and assembly development.
  • Work closely with optics, electronics, systems, and packaging teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline, preferably with a background in MEMS device design and electromechanical systems.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in MEMS design, development, and product realization.
  • Proven expertise in MEMS actuator design, including electrostatic, piezoelectric, thermal, or hybrid actuation mechanisms.
  • Strong background in analytical modeling, finite-element simulation, and experimental validation of MEMS devices.
  • Demonstrated experience taking MEMS technologies from concept and prototyping through fabrication, characterization, and system integration.
  • Deep understanding of MEMS materials, fabrication processes, packaging, reliability, and failure mechanisms.
