Frisimos Technologies | Kadima, Israel | Full-time, on-site
Frisimos Technologies designs and builds modular, fully automatic production lines for serial manufacturing of cable assemblies. We're growing, and we're looking for an Industrial Automation Control Engineer to own electrical and control engineering for our lines, and to build this discipline in-house, from design through cabinet manufacturing.
Why this role
- Build it from the ground up. You'll own electrical and control engineering end to end, bring outsourced design and panel manufacturing in-house, and grow a team around it.
- Shape the architecture. You'll evaluate our current control approach and lead the decision on the next generation of our motion and control platform.
- Direct impact. You'll report directly to the VP R&D and work closely with the mechanical, software and vision algorithm teams.
What you'll do
- Own electrical design for our production line modules: power and control schematics, cabinet layout, component selection and protection.
- Integrate and support the line hardware: servo and servo-stepper axes, pneumatics, sensors and safety devices.
- Support our in-house vision algorithm team with the electrical and control infrastructure for cameras and lighting: power, networking and switches, triggering and I/O.
- Design and validate machine safety systems using SICK safety controllers.
- Support the current control architecture: Festo electric linear axes and Festo CPX valve terminals, controlled over Modbus TCP by an industrial PC that orchestrates each module and its axis sequencing.
- Assess upgrade paths such as PLC and motion controller integration for coordinated multi-axis motion, and lead the implementation.
- Lead the gradual transition of electrical design and cabinet manufacturing from external partners to an in-house capability. That covers processes, documentation standards, workshop setup and, over time, hiring.
- Support production, testing and commissioning of the lines, in Israel and at customer sites abroad (occasional travel).
- Ensure compliance with CE and UL requirements, including EN 60204-1, UL 508A, NFPA 79 and applicable functional-safety standards.
What you bring
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with a strong focus on control systems.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, such as production lines, assembly machines or similar.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs and motion controllers.
- Hands-on experience with industrial communication: Modbus TCP, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP or similar.
- Practical knowledge of machine safety: safety controllers, safety circuits, and CE/UL safety requirements.
- Ownership mindset and the ambition to build and lead a team.
Nice to have
- SICK safety controllers.
- Experience supporting machine vision systems (cameras, lighting, industrial networking).
- EPLAN Electric P8 (or AutoCAD Electrical).
- Festo electric axes, CPX terminals and pneumatics.
- Control cabinet manufacturing, or setting up an in-house panel shop.
