About the role:
We’re looking for a skilled backend engineer to help design and build the core of Forter’s real-time data platform. As part of the Data Products team, you will architect and implement high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems that ingest, process, and serve massive data streams powering Forter’s fraud prevention engine and internal platforms.
You will tackle complex engineering challenges, work with cutting-edge streaming technologies, and build scalable data products that enable teams across the company to reliably consume and build on real-time data. As part of this work, you will also build AI-driven engineering tooling and agents that help teams move more efficiently.
If you’re passionate about real-time systems and want your work to have a multiplier effect across products and teams, this role is for you.
About the Team:
The Data Products team builds and operates the real-time backbone of Forter’s data platform. We own the infrastructure and platform services that enable reliable, high-scale data transport and consumption across fraud prevention, analytics, and product development use cases.
In addition, the team builds AI-powered engineering tooling that helps teams accelerate the development and operation of data solutions. We focus on creating scalable, reusable platform capabilities that improve engineering efficiency and enable teams to move independently at scale.
What you'll be doing:
- Design and implement high-performance, low-latency, large-scale data pipelines and distributed services
- Work on complex scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency challenges driven by Forter’s growing data scale
- Help shape the technical direction of Forter’s next-generation data platform
- Develop internal AI-driven tooling and agents that improve engineering efficiency and enable teams to build data solutions independently
- Own end-to-end delivery from requirements and system design through rollout and ongoing production ownership
What you'll Need:
- 4+ years hands‑on experience as a backend / data / platform engineer building production systems at scale.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Java, Scala, or Python)
- Proven experience owning systems in production, including monitoring, troubleshooting, performance and reliability improvements
- Experience with various database technologies, such as MySQL, S3, Aerospike
- Experience with data transport technologies such as Kafka, SNS, SQS, or RabbitMQ
- Ability to drive technical initiatives from problem definition through implementation and rollout
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering, product, and data stakeholders
It Would be Cool if you Have:
- Experience with one or more stream processing frameworks - KafkaStreams, Flink or Spark Streaming
- Background in building internal data platforms, self‑service tooling, or data products consumed by other teams.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools or building internal engineering tooling that leverages AI
- Experience with K8s and Terraform
