We are seeking a Senior Big Data Engineer with strong backend engineering expertise to design, build, and optimize large-scale data systems. The ideal candidate is passionate about distributed systems, scalable data processing, and modern programming practices. You will work closely with backend engineers, and product teams to deliver robust data pipelines and platforms that power business intelligence, analytics, and AI initiatives.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using tools like Apache Spark, Trino, and Airflow.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain data lake and data warehouse solutions using Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, or similar technologies.
  • Build and maintain real-time event streaming architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or related technologies.
  • Collaborate with backend teams to integrate data systems into core applications and APIs.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and reliability across distributed systems.
  • Optimize data models, queries, and storage for performance and cost efficiency.

Requirements

Experience and Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or backend development.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages: Java, C#, Go, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Proven experience building and managing event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
  • Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines with Spark, Trino, or similar frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with data warehousing and lakehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Iceberg).
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, and API design.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
