Who are we?
Huawei’s Tel Aviv Research center (also known as Toga Networks) is looking for outstanding Database Architects, Experts and potentially a Team Lead. We are about to open new projects that deal with the hottest most advanced data management topics, namely Data Lakehouse (combination of BigData and Data Warehouse), Hybrid Transactional and Analytic Processing (HTAP), In-Memory Fabrics and more.
Our work includes contribution to open source projects, such as the Memory-Optimized Tables (MOT) of the openGauss database.
The position is unique in the Israeli hi-tech industry as it offers an opportunity for performing state of the art research (leading to patents and academic publications), along with development of new systems and products, all in a corporate setup, while joining a team that balances innovation with product-orientation.
We have offices in Hod Hasharon as well as in Haifa.
What will you be doing?
- Research new DB technologies towards conception followed by architecture, design, prototyping, development, testing and benchmarking
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand their requirements and identify opportunities
- Analysis and evaluation of relevant state of the art (academic papers) and competitors’ products
- ledge transfer of prototypes, code and results
What do we want to see?
- Education: B.Sc. in CS or EE. Ph.D. or M.Sc. in CS is an advantage
- Experience: At least 4 years of software development.
- Intimate familiarity and proven experience with at least some of the following technologies: databases, SQL, distributed systems, operating systems, cloud & virtualization, compilers, modern CPU architecture
- Excellent C/C++ programming skills
- Development experience in the Linux environment
- Familiarity with RDBMS and/or DWH and/or Data Science products (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, openGauss, AWS Aurora / AWS RedShift, Snowflake, Databricks, Apache Kafka)
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Experience with Distributed Systems and Networking Stacks (e.g., RDMA)
- Linux kernel development skills
- Experience with Storage Systems and Data Centers
- Experience with BigData and NOSQL
- Experience with HW/SW co-design
- Experience with x86 and ARM64 architectures
- Experience in working with profiling tools (e.g.: perf / oprofile) and low-level programming languages
- Experience with LLVM
- Entrepreneurial experience or at least exposure to the business and market aspects of the IT industry
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven sound knowledge and hands-on experience of core computer science principles of database systems, operating systems, networking, performance evaluation, distributed and parallel systems, compilers, low-level performance analysis down to the microarchitecture level
- Ability to see the big picture and conceive a high-level architecture
- Excellent communications and presentation skills and ability to work as part of an international team
