Job Summary:

Orca Security is seeking an exceptional and experienced Head of Data Science & Big-data Engineering to lead our Data Science group (group of 5 Engineers).

As the Head of the group, you will play a pivotal and strategic role in driving the development and implementation of advanced data strategies and solutions. You will lead a group of talented data scientists and engineers, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of innovative cloud security solutions. This is a unique and strategic opportunity to shape the future of cloud security and make a significant impact within a rapidly growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of data scientists and engineers within the Data Science Group, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster their professional growth and the business.
• Develop and execute data science strategies, including designing and implementing advanced algorithms, machine learning models and statistical techniques.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and research, to define and prioritize data science projects and initiatives.
• Drive the development and implementation of scalable and efficient data processing pipelines and infrastructure.
• Oversee the exploration and analysis of complex and large-scale datasets, identifying trends, patterns, and actionable insights to enhance cloud security solutions.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science and cloud security, and evaluate their potential applicability to Orca Security's products and services.
• Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior leadership on Large Language Models, Data Science initiatives, goals, and roadmap.
• You will be responsible for leading both data science and big data engineering efforts, including overseeing the development and maintenance of big data infrastructure such as Data Lake and Spark pipelines. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing the infrastructure for business intelligence (BI) and analytics purposes.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the Data Science Group.

About you:

• Proven experience in leading and managing a team of data scientists and engineers, with a focus on fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
• Extensive knowledge of data science methodologies, algorithms, and statistical techniques, with expertise in areas such as anomaly detection, natural language processing, or network analysis.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala, and experience with data science libraries and frameworks.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, statistical modeling, or in big data processing and technologies.
• Strong understanding of big data technologies (Spark, Flink, Kafka, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for scalable data processing and analysis.
• Strong track record of delivering impactful projects and solutions.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
• A passion for staying up-to-date with emerging trends and advancements in data science and cloud security.
• Strategic Innovation mindset. Strive to invent and create an impact using cutting-edge data-oriented products that will propel the business forward.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex business problems into actionable data-driven solutions.
• Advanced degree (M.Sc., Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered - advantage
• Experience in the cybersecurity industry or cloud security - advantage
