We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer to take ownership of Wematch's cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, monitoring systems and internal developer platform.

Working closely with our CTO and engineering teams, you'll ensure our production environments remain stable, secure, reliable and cost-efficient while continuously improving automation and developer productivity.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, writing code, taking ownership of production systems and making practical improvements to an existing environment.

• Own Cloud Infrastructure: Manage and improve our AWS infrastructure across multiple accounts and regions, including 100+ ECS Fargate clusters and 2+ EKS clusters.
• Ensure Production Reliability: Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues affecting our business-critical trading platforms, minimising disruption during market hours.
• Improve CI/CD & Automation: Maintain and enhance Terraform configurations and GitHub Actions pipelines, making deployments more reliable, automated and efficient.
• Develop Internal Tools: Maintain and extend our internal developer platform, writing code and building tools that simplify infrastructure operations and developers' daily workflows.
• Strengthen Monitoring & Observability: Improve logging, monitoring and alerting using CloudWatch, VictoriaLogs and other internal tools to accelerate incident detection and resolution.
• Maintain Security & Compliance: Apply AWS security best practices across IAM, networking, access management and secrets. Collaborate with the CISO on infrastructure security controls, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 readiness.
• Optimise Infrastructure Costs: Monitor AWS resource utilisation and spending, identify optimisation opportunities and implement cost-effective improvements without compromising reliability.
• Drive Technical Improvements: Proactively identify infrastructure risks, technical debt and opportunities for simplification, automation and scalability.
• Collaborate & Enable Engineering: Work closely with Development, QA, Data and Security teams to support new requirements, improve developer autonomy and share infrastructure knowledge.

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, particularly ECS Fargate, EKS/Kubernetes, VPC, IAM, networking and multi-account environments.
• Advanced knowledge of Terraform, GitHub Actions, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD automation.
• Strong Linux, Bash and Python skills, with the ability to develop, debug and maintain internal engineering tools.
• Proven experience operating and troubleshooting business-critical production infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of monitoring, logging, alerting, incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
• Good knowledge of cloud security, infrastructure resilience, access management and operational best practices.
• Experience improving developer platforms, deployment processes and infrastructure automation.
• Ability to understand complex existing systems, work independently and make sound technical decisions.
• A proactive, pragmatic mindset with a strong sense of ownership, accountability and cost awareness.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.

Experience with Helm, Go, ISO 27001, SOC 2 and regulated financial environments is a plus.

We don't expect candidates to have experience with every technology listed, but strong expertise in AWS, Terraform, Docker, ECS Fargate, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions and Linux is essential.

Our platforms support live financial markets, where infrastructure stability, operational responsiveness and reliability are essential.

You'll be trusted to independently investigate incidents, restore services, identify root causes and implement lasting improvements.

You'll take responsibility for day-to-day infrastructure operations, working directly with the CTO on significant architectural decisions and material operational risks.
