About the Company

Antidote Health is a tech-driven health insurance company on a mission to make healthcare easier, accessible, and more affordable. We’re rethinking how healthcare works—using technology to remove the friction, complexity, and delays that define the traditional system. Instead of navigating paperwork, long waits, and disconnected experiences, we’re building a simpler, more connected way for people to get care.

Our platform combines health coverage, virtual care, and a modern member experience into one seamless system designed to help people actually use their benefits.

We offer Affordable Care Act (ACA) health plans in Arizona, Ohio, Georgia, and Texas, and we’re growing quickly. We’re building a company focused on solving real problems—with real impact on people’s lives.

Position Overview

We’re looking for an Infrastructure Backend Team Lead to guide the team that owns and scales the engine behind our digital HMO. In this role, you will drive the technical vision for our core infrastructure, mentor a team of talented engineers, and own the operational excellence of our backend platform. You will balance hands-on technical leadership with strategic planning to ensure our systems are resilient, scalable, and secure. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office collaboration three days a week in our Ramat Gan office.

Key Responsibilities

  • This is a hands-on leadership role - you'll split your time roughly 70/30 between people's management and technical execution (writing code, owning architecture, being in the weeds).
  • Hire, manage, and grow a team of backend engineers, focusing on their performance, career development, and day-to-day support.
  • Lead the technical vision and infrastructure roadmap, working closely with engineering leadership to prioritize and sequence platform investments.
  • Drive design and implementation of resilient, low-latency APIs and backend architectures that handle critical patient data flows.
  • Design scalable data models and optimize query performance to handle relational datasets.
  • Implement comprehensive testing strategies including unit and integration tests.
  • Work closely with product managers, design and business partners to build best in class solutions for our customers.
  • Ensure operational excellence through high availability, scalability, and security of our backend systems.
  • Architect secure, fail-safe integrations with external healthcare systems, insurance networks, and third-party APIs.
  • Use AI tools to improve velocity, code quality, problem-solving, and efficiency across the software delivery lifecycle.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineering teams.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals in Python and Django framework.
  • Experience designing and optimizing relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, and GCP (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for API integration.
  • BSc / MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical industry experience.

Preferred:

  • A product-minded leader who isn't afraid to cross the stack (React/React Native) to ship end-to-end features and unblock user-facing value.
  • Experience with healthcare systems.

Competencies:

  • Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities
  • Strong collaboration and cross-functional partnership skills
  • Results-oriented with a focus on execution
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
