Mertens – MalamTeam is hiring an experienced IBM AS400 Software Development Team Lead to join a leading organization in Central Israel

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and professionally manage a team of 3–5 developers and systems analysts working with IBM AS400 systems

Oversee the development, maintenance, and enhancement of critical core business systems

Lead end-to-end software development projects throughout the SDLC, from requirements analysis and design through development, testing, production deployment, implementation, and ongoing maintenance

Plan and monitor work plans, manage tasks, and ensure delivery within defined targets and timelines

Conduct Code Reviews, establish development standards, and implement development procedures

Drive modernization initiatives for core systems and integrate new technologies and AI tools into team workflows

Develop integrations with internal and external organizational systems

Provide professional support to business units and system users

Manage and motivate team members, define individual objectives, and conduct performance evaluations

Participate in recruitment, mentoring, onboarding, and training of new employees

Requirements:

Academic degree in Information Systems, Industrial Engineering and Management, or a related field is mandatory

8+ years of experience in software analysis, design, and development on IBM i AS400 platforms is mandatory

2+ years of direct management experience leading software development teams of at least 3 employees is mandatory

Experience developing work plans, committing to and meeting deadlines, and monitoring team performance and quality

Experience in systems analysis or working with systems analysts as a project lead or manager

Hands-on development experience with RPG and COBOL is mandatory

Experience developing with SQL is mandatory

Experience working with Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2 databases
