Role Overview:

We are looking for an Senior Operational DBA to take hands-on ownership of our production databases and data environments.

In this role, you will work closely with software development teams to ensure our databases are reliable, scalable, and optimized for our growing platform and data volumes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the availability, reliability, performance, and security of production databases.
• Work with infrastructure, security, and development teams to improve database resilience and operational readiness.
• Monitor database health, capacity, replication, and resource utilization; proactively resolve emerging issues.
• Design, maintain, and regularly test backup, restore, and disaster-recovery procedures.
• Define and support high-availability strategies that meet agreed RPO and RTO targets.
• Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.
• Diagnose and resolve query, indexing, locking, connection, and resource-contention problems.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, migrations, and configuration changes with minimal downtime.
• Manage database users, roles, permissions, authentication, and auditing according to least-privilege principles.
• Establish database monitoring, alerting, operational dashboards, and runbooks.
• Build, maintain, and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines between operational SQL and NoSQL databases, including batch, CDC, replication, and event-driven data flows.
  
  

Requirements:

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in database engineering or as an Application/Production DBA.
• Strong hands-on experience operating relational databases, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, migrations, and performance troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience operating NoSQL databases, preferably document databases, including data modeling, indexing, scaling, and performance optimization.
• Experience collaborating with software development and R&D teams on database architecture, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines for operational systems, with an understanding of reliability, data consistency, failure recovery, and production workload impact.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong PostgreSQL experience.
• Experience with MongoDB and MongoDB Atlas.
• Experience with Airflow or similar workflow orchestration platforms.
• Experience designing systems for high-volume telemetry, IoT, or event data.
• Experience with multi-tenant and distributed data architectures.
