Join SGTECH's Data Team to build reliable AI for complex industrial environments.
FULL-TIME | DATA TEAM | REPORTS TO DATA DEPARTMENT MANAGER
SGTECH develops data and AI solutions for the biogas sector. Our multidisciplinary team combines data science, software engineering and industry expertise to help complex industrial operations become more efficient, reliable and sustainable.
We are looking for a hands-on Data Scientist /Algorithm Engineer with a strong research mindset to join our Data Team and help develop the next generation of our modelling capabilities.
You will investigate complex systems, test ideas rigorously and turn promising research into reliable product capabilities. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys moving between scientific questions, real-world data and practical implementation.
• Research, develop and validate data-driven models for prediction, optimisation and decision support.
• Work with complex time-series and industrial data, including noisy, incomplete and changing operating conditions.
• Design experiments and evaluation approaches that make model performance, uncertainty and limitations clear.
• Turn successful research into tested, maintainable software and usable product capabilities.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, developers and domain experts to solve multidisciplinary problems.
• An MSc, PhD or equivalent applied experience in data science, machine learning, applied mathematics, computer science, engineering or another quantitative field.
• At least 3 years of relevant professional or applied research experience in data science, modelling or machine learning.
• Strong Python, statistical-modelling and scientific-computing skills.
• A research mindset: you form hypotheses, review evidence, design sound experiments and document conclusions clearly.
• The ability to communicate technical ideas and results to both specialist and non-specialist colleagues.
• An academic or industrial research background, including publications or substantial R&D projects.
• Knowledge of physics, chemistry, chemical or process engineering, environmental engineering or biological systems.
• Experience with industrial processes, energy, biotechnology, wastewater or biogas.
• Experience moving models from research into production or customer-facing use.
• Experience working with multivariate time-series or other real-world datasets where data quality cannot be taken for granted.
• Work on challenging scientific problems with direct industrial and environmental relevance.
• See your research move beyond analysis and become part of a real product.
• Join a multidisciplinary team and take meaningful ownership of an important technical area.
