Computer Vision Algorithm Developer – Optical Navigation

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Computer Vision Algorithm Developer to join the Engineering & Systems Division within the Missiles & Space Group. The role focuses on developing advanced multi-sensor optical navigation solutions, fusing data from cameras, IMUs, GPS/GNSS, and additional sensors to enable accurate real-time localization and navigation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced image processing and computer vision algorithms for a variety of electro-optical sensors.
  • Design, develop, and optimize AI-based feature matching algorithms as well as classical computer vision methods, including SIFT, ORB, SuperPoint, and SuperGlue.
  • Train large-scale vision models and develop 3D scene understanding using both deep learning and classical approaches, including SLAM and Structure-from-Motion (SfM).
  • Develop image-based navigation algorithms for radar and electro-optical sensors.
  • Develop and implement sensor fusion algorithms involving IMU, GPS/GNSS, calibration, bias estimation, and noise modeling using Kalman Filters.
  • Work with optimization frameworks such as Ceres, g2o, or GTSAM (advantage).
  • Define and support validation scenarios, simulation environments, testing databases, and proof-of-concept experiments.
  • Implement algorithms in MATLAB, C++, and Python, utilizing PyTorch, TensorRT, and OpenCV.
  • Conduct algorithm benchmarking, performance analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Perform end-to-end system validation in collaboration with system engineering teams.
  • Plan, support, and analyze field experiments and validation campaigns.

Requirements

  • M.Sc. in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or another Exact Sciences discipline – Mandatory.
  • Ph.D. – Significant advantage.
  • 5+ years of experience in Computer Vision, Optical Navigation, localization and motion estimation, including Visual Odometry, Optical Flow, Ego-Motion Estimation, and Deep Learning-based Image Registration.
  • Experience with multi-sensor fusion – Advantage.
  • Strong background in Statistics and Probability – Mandatory.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, self-learning ability, motivation, and strong interpersonal skills.
