DBA Team Lead
Philips Radiology Informatics R&D is developing Philips Image Management, a complete and scalable local and wide area Picture Archiving and Communication System solution that supports different steps in the radiology workflow by archiving, distributing, retrieving and displaying images and data from hospital modalities and information systems. As DBA Team Lead, you will play a major role in developing the backbone database layer within the PACS architecture, driving the overall data layer and database strategy for Vue PACS and RIS.
Your Role
- Lead the DBA domain for Vue PACS and RIS, owning the data layer and database strategy that supports the PACS architecture and full customer install base.
- Provide strong technical leadership and influence across teams, aligning DBA work and driving execution with focus on timelines, quality and delivery.
- Drive key database architecture, scalability, performance, reliability and high-availability decisions across the full product lifecycle.
- Act as the central technical point of contact for DBA-related topics, supporting architecture, infrastructure planning, production support and critical escalations.
- Champion continuous improvement through automation, scripting, AI-based tools, observability and strong engineering practices.
- Support the strategic migration towards AWS and Linux, with focus on cost optimization, resilience and long-term maintainability.
You're The Right Fit If
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent.
- 10+ years of Oracle Database expertise, including administration, production support, and performance optimization of business-critical Oracle environments running on both Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Extensive experience managing large-scale Oracle databases (10TB+ to 100TB+), with deep expertise in sharding, partitioning, horizontal scaling techniques, and scalable database architecture design.
- Strong expertise in Oracle backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions, including RMAN, Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR), disaster recovery planning, and resilient database operations for mission-critical systems.
- Advanced database performance engineering skills, including data modeling, indexing strategies, query optimization, execution plan analysis, AWR report interpretation, capacity planning, memory management, and workload tuning.
- Proven experience developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise-scale database platforms, utilizing Python or similar scripting languages to automate operations, improve reliability, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and collaboration skills, with experience driving projects end-to-end, leading incident management and root cause analysis, contributing to architecture and infrastructure planning, supporting CI/CD practices, and partnering effectively with global engineering and business stakeholders.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with Oracle patching and upgrade processes, including planning, testing and deployment of PSU/CPU patches.
- Familiarity with ElasticSearch or NoSQL technologies, Linux operating systems, Oracle AWR in cloud environments, Agile development methodologies and practical use of AI tools to support development productivity, troubleshooting, observability and maintenance activities.
- System-level background or experience developing enterprise solutions, as well as experience in an international organization or medical devices environment

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
