The Impact You’ll Make

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Conntour, you’ll be one of the first engineers shaping the foundation of our platform.

You’ll design and build high-scale, performance-critical backend systems that power real-time video and AI-driven workflows in high-stakes environments. Your work will directly influence our architecture, infrastructure, deployment strategy, and engineering standards from the ground up.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves building robust systems, optimizing performance, owning infrastructure, and solving hard problems where reliability and speed matter.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and own high-performance backend services for real-time, mission-critical systems.
• Develop scalable data pipelines for camera networks, video streams, AI/ML outputs, and operational insights.
• Build systems optimized for low latency, high throughput, reliability, and resilience.
• Own backend architecture decisions across APIs, databases, infrastructure, observability, and deployment.
• Work closely with ML, product, frontend, and design teams to translate complex AI outputs into reliable product experiences.
• Build and maintain production infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring, and modern DevOps practices.
• Improve performance across the stack, including API response times, data processing, database access, and real-time event handling.
• Help design systems that can run both in cloud environments and on-premises / edge deployments.
• Set engineering standards around code quality, testing, deployment, observability, and operational excellence.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap of a platform built to operate in demanding, real-world environments.

Who You Are

• 5+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, with strong backend ownership.
• Experienced in building high-scale, production-grade distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of system design, performance optimization, reliability, and scalability.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and production operations.
• Comfortable owning infrastructure and DevOps responsibilities, not just application code.
• Experienced with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Strong API design skills and experience building reliable service-to-service architectures.
• Able to move fast while maintaining high standards for stability, security, and maintainability.
• Product-minded, proactive, accountable, and comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Passionate about building technology with real-world consequences.
• Computer science degree

Bonus Points For

• Strong Python experience, especially with FastAPI or similar backend frameworks.
• Experience with real-time video systems, streaming pipelines, or distributed camera networks.
• Experience with computer vision, ML infrastructure, LLMs, vector databases, or AI agents.
• Experience deploying and managing on-premises or edge systems.
• Experience with GPU-based workloads, inference pipelines, or NVIDIA DeepStream.
• Experience designing systems that operate under strict latency, bandwidth, or hardware constraints.
• Background in defense-tech, security, robotics, autonomous systems, or physical-world AI.
• Prior startup experience, especially in early-stage or 0→1 environments.
• Experience working closely with design and product teams to build intuitive technical workflows.
