Senior Backend Software Engineer - Join the Pack!
About Huskeys
Huskeys is reimagining web application protection for the modern era.
As applications become increasingly dynamic, multi-cloud, and AI-driven, traditional WAFs struggle to keep up.
We built the first Agentic Network Security Control Plane - an AI-powered mitigation layer that works with any existing WAF. Our platform helps security teams unify protection, measure effectiveness, reduce manual overhead, and create context-aware policies that block threats without disrupting business flows.
At Huskeys, we believe context is the new attack surface, and that security should empower the business - not slow it down.
What Success Looks Like After 6 Months
- For the Organization: You independently own 2-3 major backend subsystems, designing and scaling critical services without needing constant oversight.
- For the Team: You’ve significantly elevated our production visibility. Teammates can easily monitor system health, track data pipelines, and deploy with absolute confidence.
- For the Business: You have successfully delivered multiple high-impact features that demonstrate technical excellence, helping push our platform to an enterprise-ready level.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Ownership: Take features from a vague request to production - owning the design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and long-term maintenance.
- System Architecture: Design and build scalable, distributed microservices capable of handling complex cyber security workflows and high data loads.
- Data Engineering: Work with databases (NeonDB + ClickHouse) to design efficient schemas, optimize complex queries, and ensure absolute data integrity across pipelines.
- API Craftsmanship: Collaborate with frontend engineers to design clean, elegant, and well-documented APIs that make frontend development smooth and intuitive.
- Observability Champion: Build and maintain tools for logging, error handling, and system metrics to ensure our platform is always high-performing and transparent.
- Skill based programming: Build and orchestrate skills that other engineers can leverage to execute more efficiently and with the standard we want our code to be deployed in.
Day-to-Day Reality
- Hands-on Coding: We keep the process lean and builder-focused. At least 70–80% of your week is spent doing technical work and architectural design.
- High Autonomy: When you take on a system, it's yours from A to Z. You make technical choices, give product feedback, and take pride in being the expert on what you build.
- Fast & Dynamic: This is a fast-paced, seed-stage startup. You'll balance shipping cutting-edge features with keeping existing systems highly reliable.
- The Stack: Python, Node.js/TypeScript, NeonDB + Postgress, ClickHouse, Temporal (for workflow orchestration), and modern observability platforms (Datadog/Grafana/ELK).
Who is The Ideal Candidate
Beyond the code, we are looking for a pragmatic builder and a systems thinker.
You’ll thrive here if: You love taking absolute ownership without needing hand-holding. You care deeply about how code is deployed and monitored, not just how it's written. You are an accountable, driven, and highly collaborative team player who thrives in ambiguity.
Must-Have Requirements
- 8+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Expert-level proficiency in either Python OR TypeScript (and a willingness to work with both).
- Deep Database Expertise: Strong experience designing schemas and optimizing queries for both SQL and NoSQL/Columnar databases.
- Distributed Systems: Proven experience building and maintaining complex, communicating microservices and ETL workflows with thousands of requests per sec.
- Production Operations: Hands-on experience operating systems at scale, designing clean APIs, and handling production incidents.
- Data Integrity: Solid understanding of data consistency and building reliable data pipelines across distributed environments.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Temporal for complex workflow orchestration.
- Experience with large-scale log analysis tools (ClickHouse, rclone).
- Mastery of observability platforms (Datadog, ELK, Grafana).
- Cloud platform expertise (AWS, GCP, or Azure) using Infrastructure as Code.
- Cyber security domain knowledge.
- Early-stage startup experience.
