Overview
In this role, you will work on production-grade systems where model quality, reliability, latency, agentic orchestration, and product thinking directly impact people during some of the most meaningful moments of their lives.

What You Will Do
- Build and ship AI-powered product experiences that automate and improve how legal work gets done at consumer scale.
- Work across the full AI development lifecycle: problem framing, data exploration, prototyping, evaluation, production deployment, and continuous improvement.
- Develop systems for intelligent intake, document generation, case orchestration, client communication, attorney workflows, and other core parts of the Flare AI platform.
- Design evaluation frameworks, experiments, and metrics to measure model quality, reliability, latency, user impact, and business outcomes.
- Apply strong engineering practices to AI systems, including clean code, version control, testing, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and safe deployment.
- Explore and experiment with the latest GenAI models, agentic patterns, retrieval techniques, tools, and orchestration approaches - and translate what works into real product capabilities.
- Partner closely with product, engineering, legal operations, and domain experts to deeply understand the business problem before choosing the technical solution.
- Help build AI systems that are reliable, explainable, ethical, and aligned with the realities of legal work and client care.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering skills and the ability to deliver clean, maintainable, production-grade systems.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, NLP, retrieval, agents, evaluation, prompt/model experimentation, or related GenAI techniques.
- Comfortable building software both directly and through AI-assisted development workflows using coding agents and agentic tooling.
- Strong engineering judgment: knowing when to zoom into implementation details and when to zoom out to coordinate systems, workflows, and execution across multiple moving parts.
- Strong analytical skills - able to define metrics, evaluate performance, and make data-informed decisions.
- Familiarity with fundamental engineering practices such as Git, testing, containers, CI/CD, observability, and production debugging.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, operations, and domain experts in a fast-moving environment.
