proteanTecs is looking for a Software Tech Lead to join the ride as we spearhead the next revolution in electronics!
Responsibilities:
- Lead a cross-platform system/desktop application software for Linux and Windows, spanning backend services and an Electron-based desktop UI (design, implementation, packaging, release).
- Lead full-stack integration: define and maintain APIs/IPC between the UI and backend services and ensure reliable real-time data flow.
- Plan, prioritize and drive execution with product, QA and engineering stakeholders.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership (architecture, code reviews, complex debugging, performance and reliability).
- Own software quality and delivery: CI/CD, automated testing, reproducible development environments, release processes and quality gates.
- Drive hardware and lab readiness: build and maintain interfaces to devices/boards (I2C, UART, Ethernet, SPI, etc.) and maintain/support demo and evaluation boards/systems (lab testing, troubleshooting, field/integration support, demo releases).
- Build and develop the team: hiring, onboarding, mentoring and performance management; continuously improve engineering practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, Software/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years software development experience and 2+ years people/technical leadership.
- Strong production experience with Python, including dependency and environment management.
- Strong experience building desktop UIs with Electron and modern frontend development (JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS).
- Experience building backend services/APIs for desktop applications, including IPC/RPC and multi-process architectures.
- Practical experience with cross-platform packaging/distribution and build scripting for Windows and Linux.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerization (Docker or similar) and modern Git workflows.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, performance, reliability and production debugging.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience integrating Python with native code or drivers (C/C++, pybind11).
- Experience with real-time dashboards/data visualization and UI performance tuning.
- Experience implementing hardware interfaces (I2C/UART/Ethernet/SPI) and supporting demo/evaluation boards and lab setups.
- Familiarity with building Windows executables and common cross-platform release issues.
- Deep experience with hardware-in-the-loop systems and end-to-end troubleshooting across UI, backend and hardware layers.
- Strong background in linting/formatting, typing and test automation (e.g., ruff/flake8/mypy and CI test suites).
- Customer-facing integration, field debugging or automated test equipment experience.
