We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic
Manager of Software Engineering to lead, mentor, and grow an engineering team that delivers key platform capabilities.
In this role, you will partner with Product Management and cross-functional stakeholders to
drive software delivery excellence, champion best practices (design, testing, operational quality), and ensure high-quality delivery. You will be instrumental in setting technical direction and scaling team processes in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
What You’ll Do
Team Leadership & Coaching
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 5-8 software engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews, career development planning, and support the professional growth of team members.
- Define team goals and align them with broader organizational priorities.
Technical Delivery & Execution
- Oversee the planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of high-quality, scalable software solutions.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet performance, reliability, and security standards.
- Guide architectural discussions, code quality standards, and software lifecycle best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement of development processes, CI/CD practices, and release quality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Management to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with QA/Quality Engineering, DevOps, and UX teams to integrate quality into the development lifecycle.
- Act as a technical liaison with other engineering teams to coordinate dependencies and ensure alignment.
Metrics & Reporting
- Define and track key engineering metrics (e.g., velocity, quality KPIs, cycle time) to monitor team performance and outcomes.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on project status, risks, and opportunities.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong technical background.
- 3+ years in a people-leadership or engineering management role, ideally in SaaS or cloud products.
- Strong experience in backend development, with mandatory deep proficiency in Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript) and robust system design principles. Experience with other backend languages (e.g., Java, Python) is a plus but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and deliver complex projects on time.
- Experience with API design, distributed systems, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- A proactive, results-driven mindset with an emphasis on quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
