About the role:

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer who is excited to move deeper into the world of data and data infrastructure.

This is a unique opportunity to transition into a Data Engineering role while leveraging your backend development experience. You’ll work closely with our data and product teams to build scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that power our product and decision-making.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and backend services that power product features
  • Develop Python services that collect and process data from APIs, social platforms, and external sources
  • Design and operate distributed pipelines using AWS services such as S3, SQS, and Kinesis
  • Work with large and complex datasets to ensure data quality, reliability, and accessibility
  • Build and deploy containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) orchestrated with Airflow
  • Collaborate with backend engineers, data scientists, and analysts to support product and AI initiatives
  • Improve and optimize existing data workflows and infrastructure
  • Gradually expand into data transformation and modeling using tools like Databricks, PySpark, and Delta Lake

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Backend Engineer (or Data Engineer)
  • Strong experience with Python and building production backend systems
  • Experience working with AWS or other cloud infrastructure
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort working with data
  • Experience building scalable systems, APIs, or data pipelines
  • Curiosity about data systems and motivation to grow into a Data Engineering role
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Nice to have

  • Web scraping or API reverse-engineering experience
  • Spark, Databricks, or distributed data processing
  • Airflow or workflow orchestration
  • Elasticsearch or search systems
  • Node.js/TypeScript familiarity (our product app is in Node.js)

Please note that this role is on a hybrid model of 4 days/week in our Tel-Aviv office.
