The Role

We're looking for a hands-on technical leader to join the CTO Office - someone who can move between strategic thinking and rapid execution without breaking stride. You'll work directly with the CTO to shape the technical direction of the company, but more importantly, you'll build.

You prototype, validate, and ship - and you expect the same pace from those around you.

This is a builder's role with a leader's scope. You'll drive architecture, set the bar for engineering velocity, and get your hands dirty every day.

What You'll Do

• Build and prototype rapidly - turn ideas into working systems in days, not months
• Partner with the CTO to define and evolve Terra's technical strategy and roadmap
• Drive cross-cutting architectural decisions across a distributed platform
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies - particularly in AI/ML, LLM agents, and security tooling
• Set the pace for engineering velocity and establish a high bar for execution speed
• Make fast, informed build-vs-buy decisions and place smart technology bets
• Mentor and grow senior engineers and tech leads across the organization
• Unblock teams, cut through complexity, and keep everything moving

What You Bring

• 7+ years in software engineering, with a track record of shipping fast in high-growth environments
• You're a rapid prototyper - you can go from zero to working demo faster than most teams write a spec
• Deep expertise in modern backend systems - distributed architectures, event-driven systems, cloud-native infrastructure
• Strong understanding of AI/ML systems, LLM-based applications, and agentic architectures
• You're AI-native in how you work - you leverage AI tools to move at 10x speed
• Experience building and scaling SaaS platforms where velocity matters
• Proven ability to translate business goals into technical execution - quickly
• Excellent communication - you can whiteboard with engineers and present to the board
• Security domain knowledge is a strong plus, not a requirement - we'll teach you the domain if you bring the engineering excellence
