The Motion Control & Electronics department at Nova is seeking a Motion Control Engineer to develop complex metrology systems for ultra-high-precision measurements of semiconductor manufacturing processes.

These systems incorporate high-end performance motion devices whose development requires proficiency in motion control systems.

In this role, you will join Nova's Motion Control group. You will be designing, developing, and implementing advanced motion systems for the next-generation Optical Critical Dimension metrology tools, as part of a world-class R&D division.

What will you be doing:

  • Develop and implement unique solutions that integrate advanced motion control technologies, delivering innovative and “out-of-the-box” approaches using cutting-edge, high-end technology.
  • Leverage strong engineering expertise to develop and optimize servo control systems, including algorithm design and custom solution implementation.
  • Analyze and optimize motion control system performance to ensure compliance with specifications and stability requirements.
  • Take ownership of suppliers and manufacturers, define equipment specifications, and stay up to date with the latest technological developments.
  • Present and explain product specification definitions and design reviews from a motion and electronics engineering perspective.
  • Conduct testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of motion control and electronics modules and subsystems.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D teams on motion control and servo solutions, supporting lab setups, prototypes, and jigs.

Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in Electronics, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering from a leading academic institute – mandatory.
  • M.Sc. in Electronics, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering from a leading academic institute – an advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in motion control design within an R&D environment.
  • Previous experience in the semiconductor, printing, or medical equipment industries – an advantage.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience leading multidisciplinary projects in a matrix organization and coordinating internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong expertise in control simulations, servo algorithms, and data analysis for performance optimization and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training sessions for team members in motion control and servo algorithms – an advantage.
  • Fluency in Hebrew and English.
  • Willingness to travel abroad (approximately once per quarter).

That special something you bring in:

  • Excellent technical skills and systemic understanding
  • A strong "team player" with a hands-on approach
  • Proactive and able to learn and work independently
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Problem solver, "can-do" approach, never afraid of challenges
  • Effective time management skills (meeting project deadlines and milestones)
  • Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills in both Hebrew and English.
