Lenovo Digital Trust Lab is seeking a hands-on and innovative Robotics Security Tech Lead / Senior Robotics Engineer to lead our Cyber-Physical / Embodied AI Security efforts. In this key role, you will bridge advanced security research and real-world robotics development, building and validating practical prototypes on real robots (HW/SW integration, sensors, communications, ROS/ROS2).

You will define and execute a research-to-demo roadmap that showcases realistic attack/defense scenarios and measurable security improvements for embodied AI systems. The role includes mentoring and leading student projects at university and collaborating closely with Lenovo engineering and product teams to translate insights into deployable solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end research-to-prototype cycle for robotics/embodied AI security: ideation threat modeling PoC development validation demo readiness.
  • Build and maintain an experimentation platform for security evaluation on real robots
  • Investigate and mitigate threats across the embodied AI stack, including (high-level):
  • autonomy policy safety failures,
  • communications command authenticity,
  • software supply chain / update pipeline risks,
  • data protection privacy in real environments.
  • Design defense strategies and resilience mechanisms (monitoring, anomaly detection, guardrails, fail-safe behaviors, controlled recovery).
  • Lead and mentor student researchers at Reichman University: define projects, guide implementation, review results, and ensure research quality.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, evaluation reports, and demo artifacts for internal and external audiences.

Minimum Requirements

  • M.Sc. in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3+ years hands-on robotics/embedded engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex systems.
  • Strong experience with robotics software stacks (ROS/ROS2 preferred), and development on Linux-based systems.
  • Hands-on experience developing on NVIDIA Jetson platforms (e.g., Jetson Orin / Xavier) for on-robot compute, edge AI, and robotics workloads
  • Practical experience integrating sensors/compute (e.g., cameras, IMU, LiDAR, microphones; serial/CAN/ethernet; real-time considerations).
  • Strong software engineering skills (Python and/or C++), ability to build reliable tooling and repeatable evaluation harnesses.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to drive work across disciplines and guide juniors/students.

Preferred Requirements

  • Willing to pursue a PhD in the Cyber-Physical / Embodied AI Security domain (in collaboration with academia / as part of the role).
  • Demonstrated work in cyber-physical security, robotics security, embedded security, or safety-critical systems.
  • Familiarity with secure deployment environments (containers, edge compute, device attestation, signing pipelines).
  • Publications, patents, open-source contributions, or public demos showing innovation in robotics/security.
  • Familiarity with secondary development workflows on commercial robotic platforms (e.g., vendor SDKs, bring-up, sensor/actuator integration, safety constraints); humanoid platforms is a plus.
  • Prior mentoring/teaching/leading research projects in academic or lab environments.

What Lenovo Can Offer You

  • Opportunities for career advancement and personal development
  • Access to a diverse range of training programs
  • Performance-based rewards that celebrate your achievements
  • Flexibility with a hybrid work model (3:2)
