About The Role
As a Backend Engineer (Python) at Brandlight, you’ll help scale an enterprise-grade product from strong foundations to massive scale, building production-ready features and infrastructure that grows from hundreds of millions of rows to tens of billions. This role is for a sharp, low-ego engineer who writes clean, readable, boring code, loves debugging, and can ship reliable backend work in a fast-moving team.
Responsibilities
- Build backend features in Python that ship reliably to production.
- Scale services and data flows from millions → tens of billions of rows.
- Take ownership of services, endpoints, and background jobs end-to-end.
- Improve reliability by reducing errors and tightening monitoring.
- Debug complex issues quickly and isolate root causes.
- Work closely with the team to deliver clean, maintainable systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong Python ownership.
- Writes readable, maintainable, production-grade code.
- Strong debugging skills: isolates issues fast and fixes them cleanly.
- Experience building production-ready features in a small, high-ownership team.
- Low ego, team player, high accountability.
- Curious, self-taught (autodidact) mindset.
