About the Company

LepreCon.ai is a mission-critical fintech startup dedicated to protecting financial institutions from the next generation of social engineering and fraud. Our proprietary algorithms and technology predict and block sophisticated scams, including Unauthorized Push Payment (APP) fraud, in real-time. By merging deep banking expertise with advanced tech and machine learning, we enable banks to secure their digital ecosystems and build lasting trust with their customers. We are looking for high-impact individuals to help us redefine the frontline of modern banking defense.

About the Role

We are looking for a high-impact Data Engineer to join our backend engine team. In the fight against Authorized Fraud, our backend and data architecture are our most critical assets. We don't just "store" data; we build high-performance pipelines and sophisticated models that power real-time decisioning.

You will be a key part of the team responsible for the "plumbing" and the "brain" of our data environment—ensuring that our data architecture is robust, our modeling is flawless, and our orchestration is seamless.

The position is based in our Tel Aviv office (Red Line access) and operates on a flexible hybrid model, balancing remote work with in-office collaboration. Occasional on-site work with customers, including international travel, may be required.

What You’ll Do
  • Architect, Code  & Model: Design and implement scalable data models that serve as the foundation for our fraud detection engine. You understand that clean data architecture is the difference between a system that scales and one that breaks under pressure.
  • Build Orchestrations: Build and maintain complex data pipelines with Airflow to ensure high availability and data integrity.
  • Optimize: Use Trino/Starburst, up-to-date and complex virtual and physical databases, and gateways to query across distributed data sources, ensuring our "backend engine" runs with high performance and low latency.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with all team members to bridge the gap between raw data and actionable fraud-prevention insights.
The Technical SpecsA must
  • Experience: 3+ years in Data Engineering or Backend development with a heavy focus on data infrastructure.
  • SQL Mastery: 3+ years of advanced SQL. You understand query execution plans, indexing, and the nuances between SQL and NoSQL environments.
  • Coding: 1+ years of prod-mode coding, preferably in Python. You write clean, testable, and production-ready code.
  • Data Architecture & Modeling: You have a firm grasp of how to structure data for both performance and clarity. You know how to design for the long term.
We would love you to have
  • Orchestration: those with Apache Airflow experience.
  • Query Engines: Know-how of Trino / Starburst platforms.
  • Extra-Bonus Skills: Experience with Kafka (messaging), Superset (viz), Bash scripting, or Machine Learning workflows.
The Human Side (Soft Skills)

We are looking for a teammate who brings more than just code to the table. You are:

  • A Natural Problem Solver: You don’t just report a fire; you find the source, put it out, and build a system so it doesn't happen again.
  • A Multi-tasking Ninja: You can balance building new features for the engine while maintaining existing pipelines without breaking a sweat.
  • Open-Minded & Curious: You stay updated on tech trends and are always willing to reconsider a solution if a better way emerges.
  • A True Team Player: You believe that "the best idea wins", regardless of who it came from. You support your peers and thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Stress-Resistant: You are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and taking responsibility for your outcomes.
  • Fluent in English: You can comprehend and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Why this role matters

The data architecture is the heartbeat of our company. We confront sophisticated fraud patterns in which every millisecond and data point are critical. If you view complex data modeling as a craft and understand that a well-architected system is the ultimate competitive advantage in financial security, contact us now to make an impact and learn from the best!
