Senior Full Stack Developer

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer with a strong backend focus (around 70% backend / 30% frontend) to join our growing platform engineering team. You’ll serve as a technical lead, helping shape the architecture, scalability, and performance of our platform, while mentoring other developers and raising our engineering standards.

In this role, you’ll work across the stack - primarily with Nest.js on the backend and React on the frontend to design, build, and optimize systems that power advanced data-driven applications. You’ll collaborate closely with product and research teams to translate ideas into robust, maintainable, and performant software.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement backend APIs using Nest.js, integrating with data layers and external systems.
• Contribute to and review frontend features in React, ensuring seamless integration with backend services.
• Architect scalable systems and drive performance improvements across services and infrastructure.
• Help design and shape the product, working closely with product managers, bioinformaticians, and other stakeholders to align technical decisions with product goals.
• Mentor and support other developers through code reviews, internal discussions, clean code and technical guidance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and infrastructure teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Write and maintain technical documentation and high-level designs.

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of experience as a full stack or backend-focused developer.
• Proficiency in Node.js / Nest.js and experience with scalable API design.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance optimization, and cloud architectures.
• Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers — you enjoy helping others grow.
• Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks, preferably React.

Strong communication and planning skills, with the ability to provide technical input during project scoping.

• Track record of delivering efficiently in agile teams with shifting priorities.
• Proactive mindset - someone who can take ownership, identify problems, and propose solutions.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Python or R for data-related workflows.
• Background in data-intensive systems or bioinformatics.
• Familiarity with multi-cloud environments (GCP + AWS).
