We are looking for an experienced
Senior Director of Engineering to lead a large, highly technical engineering organization (50+ engineers) responsible for end-to-end development of Cato’s Security product lines platform.
This role combines people leadership, technical vision, and product partnership. You will own the full lifecycle of multiple enterprise-grade services — from high-performance runtime traffic processing (data plane) to cloud services, configuration systems, dashboards, and alerting (control plane).
You will be a key partner to Product Management, driving technology strategy, shaping product vision, and building scalable, resilient, and best-in-class security architecture at cloud scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale a 50+ engineer organization, including group managers and senior technical leaders, responsible for planning, building, and operating Cato’s Security platform
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers, building a high-performance, inclusive, and growth-oriented culture
- Own the technical vision and architecture of end-to-end security services, including:
- High-throughput, low-latency runtime traffic processing
- Cloud-native microservices and APIs
- Web-based configuration, policy management, analytics dashboards, and alerting systems
- Drive enterprise-grade architecture for large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS systems with strict requirements for availability, performance, and security
- Act as a thought leader for new technologies, security capabilities, and architectural evolution within the organization
- Partner closely with Product Management to define roadmaps, influence product strategy, and translate business needs into technical execution
- Collaborate across engineering, operations, automation, and support teams to deliver integrated, reliable solutions at scale
- Establish and own a strong quality culture, including engineering best practices, testing strategy, production readiness, and continuous improvement to ensure enterprise-grade reliability, security, and customer trust
- Own delivery and operational excellence: quality, scalability, observability, and continuous improvement in production
- Participate in the broader engineering leadership team, contributing to cross-company initiatives and long-term strategy Foster a culture of ownership, transparency, technical excellence, and continuous learning
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a senior engineering leader managing managers and leading large engineering organizations (40–50 engineers)
- Security domain experience – mandatory (network security, cloud security, SASE, Zero Trust, etc.)
- Strong background in SaaS, cloud-native, multi-tenant platforms operating at high scale and load in production
- Proven experience owning end-to-end product development, from backend runtime systems to frontend/web applications
- Deep experience in system architecture and design of complex distributed systems
- Strong product mindset with a demonstrated ability to influence product vision and roadmap in partnership with Product Management
- Experience with modern backend and frontend stacks (e.g., Java, Go, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, or similar)
- Experience with CI/CD, testing strategies, and operating services in fast release cycles
- Experience with monitoring, analytics, and observability systems
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent academic background
