The Opportunity

  • We are looking for a CTO to lead our growing engineering organization and help us build, scale, and enhance our AI-first SaaS platform.


You’ll:

  • Own the overall technical strategy, architecture, and execution of our product roadmap.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
  • Drive and evolve the AI-agent, instruction- and SPEC-driven development practices across the organization.
  • Work closely with product, design, and management to turn business goals into scalable, reliable systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build, and ongoing evolution of Covercy’s SaaS platform with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Champion AI-agent based development, spec-driven workflows, and best practices for using AI tools across the R&D team.
  • Oversee the devops team, and lead security, efficiency and compliance.
  • Define and own the engineering roadmap in partnership with product and leadership.
  • Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, standards, and quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver impactful, customer-centric solutions.
  • Make key architectural decisions and drive modernization of our technology stack.
  • Ensure a high bar for code quality, testing, security, observability, and documentation.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent; build a culture of ownership, learning, and accountability.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize system performance at scale when needed.


Requirements

  • A strong belief that AI can generate production-grade code and a desire to work in an AI-native, prompt-driven engineering environment. If you’re skeptical about AI coding — this role is not for you.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant backend/system design experience.
  • 3+ years in an engineering leadership role (e.g. Head of Engineering, Director, CTO, VP R&D, or equivalent), managing teams and owning delivery of complex products.
  • Strong experience designing and implementing APIs and distributed backend services.
  • Strong understanding of SQL databases and relational data modeling.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, modern DevOps practices, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Hands-on experience working with AI-assisted development (e.g. Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) as part of your daily workflow.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for addressing complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a hybrid/remote environment.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.


Our Technology Stack Includes:

  • TypeScript / Node.js for backend services.
  • Instruction- and SPEC-driven development using AI agents as core part of the workflow.
  • Prisma as our ORM and data access layer.
  • Vercel for hosting and deploying our applications.
  • SQL databases.
  • Event-driven systems and messaging/queueing infrastructure.
  • AI-powered development tools such as Cursor, VS Code with Claude, and ChatGPT.


Nice-to-Have (Advantages):

  • Experience with modern frontend technologies (e.g. React, Next.js, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Experience with Prisma in production environments.
  • Experience deploying and operating services on Vercel and/or other serverless/cloud platforms.
  • Experience mentoring or leading other engineers in an AI-native development environment.
  • Hands-on experience building or orchestrating AI agents, RAG systems, or workflow automation using LLMs (e.g. for coding, QA, monitoring, or operations).
