At Orca AI, we're on a mission to shape the future of the shipping industry through cutting-edge autonomous ship technology. Our solutions empower teams both on the ship and ashore to make informed decisions that dramatically enhance safety, reduce fuel consumption, improve navigation, and minimize environmental impact.
We’re hiring a hands-on, field-oriented Integration Engineer to own the critical path between R&D and real-world deployment. This is a builder/operator role responsible for turning advanced prototypes into stable, reliable systems at sea. You'll spec hardware, assemble and validate kits, lead on-site installs, automate deployment and test procedures, and close the loop with issue diagnosis and remediation.
This is an opportunity to shape the physical and operational backbone of the next generation of AI-powered maritime infrastructure from the ground up, with full ownership and impact, alongside the most innovative team in the most advanced company in this space.
What Will You Do?
- Specify hardware components and prepare detailed BOMs for field deployment kits
- Assemble and validate systems via bench testing, HIL/SITL setups, and lab acceptance procedures
- Develop and maintain robust installation, commissioning, and pre-deployment validation flows
- Automate image builds, deployment pipelines, and pre-flight health checks
- Monitor system health, lead incident diagnosis, and implement field-resilient fixes
- Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and installation checklists; train local partners and contractors
- Continuously improve field processes: reduce MTTR, simplify logistics, and scale deployment repeatability
Requirements
- 3+ years field/integration or systems-engineering experience (embedded/IoT/instrumentation)
- Strong Linux/CLI skills and practical networking (VPN, LTE/4G, NAT)
- Proven cross-stack troubleshooting experience: sensors, edge hardware, OS, and apps
- Proven experience designing and executing HIL/SITL test frameworks and commissioning procedures
- Comfortable with hands-on work: soldering, cabling, mechanical rigging, diagnostic tools
- Willingness to travel for system installations and operate in field environments
- A “can-do” mindset and a drive to build and ship real systems
Nice-To-Haves
- Experience with Jetson/edge platforms and containerized inference (Docker, DeepStream)
- Familiarity with OTA update flows, CI/CD pipelines for embedded targets
- Exposure to maritime systems (NMEA/AIS), cameras tuning and sensors calibration
Challenges & Opportunities
- Tackle real-world edge integration challenges in autonomous AI systems
- Lead visible, strategic innovation projects with top-tier global partners
- Help define and scale the future of autonomy in the maritime world
- Join a high-impact, close-knit team operating at the cutting edge of robotics and autonomy
