Wisor.AI, an early-stage and well-funded startup, is now looking for an experienced and passionate Backend Team Leader to join and lead a growing and dynamic engineering team within our R&D department.

As a Backend Team Leader at Wisor.AI, you’ll be at the forefront of building powerful features that push the boundaries of what technology can do in global trade. You'll not only contribute hands-on to complex backend systems but also guide, mentor, and inspire a talented and diverse team of engineers. You will work alongside product minds, QA specialists, and domain experts—each bringing deep knowledge and fresh perspectives. In this role, you’ll take full ownership of designing and developing robust server-side architecture from start to finish, while fostering a culture of independence, accountability, and the drive to turn ambitious ideas into production-ready reality.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented backend developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Drive the design, development, and maintenance of scalable server-side code using Python.
- Oversee and contribute to development in an AWS cloud environment.
- Guide the implementation and maintenance of robust RESTful APIs for seamless communication between frontend and backend.
- Direct the team's work with relational/NoSQL/object stores such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Neptune, and S3 to efficiently store and retrieve data.
- Ensure the team writes clean, readable, high-quality, and testable code, promoting best practices in code quality and performance.
- Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to architectural standards.
- Oversee the testing and debugging of applications to ensure high quality and performance.
- Take ownership of projects from conception through to successful delivery, coordinating efforts within the team and with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of new evolutions in technology, take initiative to understand future development trends, and lead the team in adopting relevant advancements.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, and other R&D teams to define requirements, plan sprints, and deliver integrated solutions.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of server-side development experience, with a strong focus on Python.
- 3+ years of experience in a team leadership or technical leadership role, guiding and mentoring other developers.
- Excellent understanding of database concepts and structure, with hands-on experience in various database technologies (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Neptune, S3).
- Proven ability to simplify complex technical ideas and communicate them effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong startup mindset: Demonstrating exceptional ownership, responsibility, and initiative. Possessing a customer-first mentality, striving for wide product understanding, detail orientation, and critical thinking. Capable of reasoning tradeoffs of different solutions (good vs. great vs. perfect) and not afraid to get your hands dirty to do what needs to be done.
- Deep understanding and practical experience with software development methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a strategic approach to technical challenges.
- Extensive familiarity with micro-services architectures, and ideally, experience seeing them in operation at a global scale.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and build a team.
