Role Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled
Mathematician & Game Modeling Specialist to join our Product team. This role defines and shapes the mathematical backbone of our slot games, ensuring they are accurate, compliant, engaging, and aligned with both product vision and player psychology.
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of slot mechanics, and the ability to explain mathematical behavior in a clear, product-focused way.
Responsibilities:
- Mathematical Modeling & Game Design
- Build, design, and validate mathematical models for slot games: RTP structures, volatility, hit frequency, reel strips, symbol distribution, feature probabilities, paytables, and win distribution curves.
- Run and analyze simulations, generating accurate win distribution, reel-strip outputs, variance curves, and behavior predictions.
- Ensure models create a balanced and engaging player experience, aligned with product vision.
- Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
- Ensure all mathematical models meet regulatory standards across multiple jurisdictions.
- Adapt models to changing compliance requirements and produce accurate documentation for labs and certifications.
- Building Tools, Automation & Reverse Engineering
- Develop and use internal tools in Python, Excel, C#, and .NET to simulate, validate, and optimize game behavior.
- Conduct reverse engineering on existing or competitor math engines to understand unexpected behavior or replicate performance.
- Provide insights into root causes of mathematical issues and offer preventive or corrective solutions.
- Player Psychology & Experience Optimization
- Translate player behavior and psychology insights into concrete math parameters (hit frequency, feature frequency, prize distribution, etc.
- Apply knowledge of player psychology, including:
- What keeps players engaged
- Desired anticipation timing for spins and features
- How reward schedules influence player satisfaction
- How volatility profiles impact session length and user perception
- Collaborate with Product and Game Design to shape mathematical pacing that supports:
- Enjoyable win cycles
- Meaningful anticipation moments
- Engaging bonus progression
- Avoidance of patterns that feel repetitive or punishing
- Ensure that the math model reinforces the emotional curve of the game: excitement, buildup, climax, retention.
- Problem Solving & Product Support
- Provide mathematical answers to product challenges and help shape new mechanics and features.
- Explain why issues occur mathematically (imbalances, volatility spikes, reward loops, feature over-triggering, unexpected losses) and how to prevent them.
- Identify and troubleshoot mathematical bottlenecks throughout the game flow—reel constructions, trigger logic, paytable interactions, bonus structures, and more.
- Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with Product, Game Designers, Development, QA, and Compliance for full alignment on math logic.
- Deliver detailed, clear documentation of all mathematical specifications and rationale.
Requirements:
- Experience in iGaming or game math design.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a similar analytical field.
- Experience designing slot math models or a strong probability/statistical modeling background.
- Strong proficiency in: Python , Excel , C# / .NET
- Understanding of RTP, reel mathematics, hit frequency, volatility tuning, distribution curves, symbol weighting, and simulation practices.
- Ability to conduct reverse engineering of mathematical systems.
- Strong communication skills—able to translate complex mathematical logic into simple explanations.
- Nice to Have: Experience with BI tools or simulation frameworks.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical mindset, deep attention to detail.
- Curiosity and creativity in solving mathematical and product challenges.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- High ownership, accountability, and a “can-do” attitude.
- Ability to think like a player, not only like a mathematician.
