Microsoft Red Team attacks ALL Microsoft services, continually – identifying critical, systemic risks, demonstrating authentic attack chains and techniques, and working with engineering teams, investigators, and incident responders to continuously improve their ability to protect, detect, investigate, and respond to real attacks.
Microsoft Red Team is launching the
AI Adversary Lab (AIAL) in ILDC (Microsoft Israel Development Center), a new extension of the Microsoft Red Team, to address the growing threat of AI-enabled adversaries through deep engineering and applied research.
The engineering team in AIAL will collaborate with U.S.-based Red Team engineers and Red Team operators to enhance and scale an AI-driven adversary emulation platform that we use to protect Microsoft. This new team will bring together deep expertise in large-scale artificial intelligence, autonomous agents, and generative models to address emerging security threats in Microsoft’s complex and rapidly evolving digital environment. As a
Senior Software Engineer in the Microsoft Red Team, you will focus on designing, building, and delivering advanced red team tools that leverage LLMs and autonomous agents to automate and enhance red teaming operations. This role will involve building practical, production-grade security capabilities to help Microsoft stay ahead of evolving cyber threats.
Responsibilities
- Become a founding member of the AIAL group as part of Microsoft Red Team. Help shape the team culture and practices.
- Design, implement, and support AI-driven red team services using generative as well as traditional AI techniques.
- Contribute to red team tools for use by both human operators and AI red teaming services.
- Collaborate with other engineers, security researchers, red team operators and cross-functional team members globally to deliver high-quality features, drive innovation, and meet project goals.
- Continuously learn and apply new technologies to improve our services.
- Ensure Microsoft continues to improve security through authentic red team attacks.
Qualifications

- You have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience.
- You have 7+ years of professional hands-on software development experience in an OOP programming languages (C# or Java preferred).
- Hands-on experience conducting or supporting red teaming, penetrating testing, malware development, or offensive cyber security operations.
- Demonstrate success dealing with ambiguous “unsolved” problems; and the ability to independently make solid progress by breaking new ground .
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in prompt engineering or developing applications utilizing LLMs including designing, testing, and integrating prompts for LLM-based systems in production or research settings.
- Experience in designing, building, and operating large-scale resilient distributed systems.

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
