🚀 About The Role

The VP of R&D and Israel Site Manager is a critical executive leadership role, responsible for setting the strategic direction of Carbyne's global R&D efforts while providing comprehensive operational and cultural leadership for the Israeli and Portugal development centers. This role ensures the development of innovative, high-quality, and reliable Next Generation 911 and public safety solutions, aligning the R&D roadmap with overall company strategy and market needs, particularly in advanced AI/ML, cloud, and real-time communication technologies.

🎯 Here's What You'll Be Doing

R&D Strategy and Leadership

  • Define and drive the multi-year R&D vision and product technology roadmap in collaboration with the CEO, CTO, and Product Leadership, focusing on AI, real-time data, cloud scalability, and public safety innovation
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of all R&D projects and releases
  • Foster a culture of technical innovation, security, and quality, ensuring Carbyne's solutions maintain a competitive edge and adhere to the highest standards of reliability required for emergency services
  • Plan and manage the global R&D budget and resources efficiently, optimizing for both short-term needs and long-term strategic investments
  • Serve as a key executive partner to Sales, Marketing, and Operations, providing technical expertise, understanding customer needs, and translating business requirements into feasible technical solutions

Site Management

Serve as the executive leader for Carbyne's R&D centers in Israel (Tel Aviv) and Portugal, overseeing all day-to-day administrative, HR, IT, and facility operations to ensure a productive and secure work environment.

Cultivate Carbyne's corporate culture, aligning the Israel site with global company values and ensuring a strong, positive, and collaborative employee experience.

Drive the recruitment, retention, and professional development of top-tier engineering, product, and R&D talent in the highly competitive Israeli market.

Ensure the Israeli R&D site adheres to all local regulatory requirements, as well as global security and data privacy standards relevant to the public safety domain.

Act as the primary liaison between the Israeli site and other global offices (USA, Mexico, Portugal), ensuring seamless communication, process alignment, and resource sharing. sharing.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in R&D leadership roles, with at least 5 years at a VP level or equivalent, preferably within a high-growth SaaS, cloud, or deep-tech company
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager or equivalent executive leader for a large-scale R&D center in Israel
  • Deep technical domain expertise in areas relevant to Carbyne: Cloud-Native Architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP), AI/Machine Learning, Real-Time Communications (VoIP, Video Streaming), and large-scale, highly available distributed systems
  • Strong understanding of the Public Safety/NG911 industry, standards, and compliance requirements is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated success in building, mentoring, and leading large, multidisciplinary R&D teams (100+ employees) across engineering, QA, DevOps, and architecture
  • Exceptional strategic planning, organizational development, and financial management skills
  • Fluent in both English and Hebrew (written and verbal) to effectively manage the local team and communicate with global leadership
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
