Summary of role and team
We are seeking a motivated Junior Scientist (biologist-bioinformatician) to join our Cell Line and Media Innovation team on a temporary basis as a replacement for maternity leave.
Our team is dedicated to exploring innovative approaches to enhance the performance of proprietary cell lines, with a particular focus on media development.
In this role, you will take part in 80% wet-lab and 20% bioinformatics work.
Key Responsibilities
- Cell culture lab work: seeding and passaging cell cultures, cell counting.
- Analysis of bulk RNA-seq.
- Analysis of biological data to produce meaningful and relevant biological insights.
- Preparation of culture media for experiments.
- Collaborate with scientists from other divisions within the company.
- Analyze, document, and present results according to project goals and timelines.
The Ideal Candidate
Must-Have
- MSc in Life Sciences/Bioinformatics/Systems Biology.
- Hands-on research experience in analyzing NGS data (bulk RNA-seq and/or whole genome DNA sequencing).
- Programming skills in python and/or R studio and/or Matlab.
- Hands-on experience with tissue/cell culture and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to handle repetitive and routine tasks with consistency.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized professional with strong record-keeping, consistency, and communication skills.
- Team-oriented, adaptable, and independent thinker who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with biological models that combine experimental data and machine learning.
- Experience with molecular biology methods (RT-qPCR, DNA and/or RNA extraction).
