Overview

We are looking to hire an AI Engineer to join the science team responsible for some of the Artificial Intelligence innovations and experiences being delivered within Microsoft Teams. The team works on state-of-the-art LLMs and other transformer models; and leverages innovation in their architecture, training, post-training, distillation and general design patterns to build innovative features to bring value to our customers.

You will partner with research, product and engineering teams to invent and deliver the future for Microsoft Copilot and other AI products.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied science experiments, create and validate metrics, develop evaluation and training pipelines and algorithms in the fields of Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, and/or Speech Recognition.
  • Collaborate closely with other research and product groups within the wider Microsoft organization, to create the next generation of AI innovation in our products and services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years practical experience in designing, training or fine-tuning Transformer models or LLMs, as well as usage of applied LLM design patterns such as prompt engineering, flow engineering, RAG, self-review, reACT, guardrails, etc.
  • 3+ years practical ML Engineering and Python coding experience leveraging PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar framework, within large code repositories and in collaboration with additional team members.

Preferred    

  • MSc/PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Practical experience developing applications using prompt engineering, fine tuning, Open AI or Azure Open AI APIs.
  • System development skills spanning rapid prototypes to production systems with complex dependencies.
