Backend Engineer (Mid-Level) – CoolAutomation

About the Role

CoolAutomation, a global leader in HVAC IoT solutions, is seeking a Backend Engineer to help build and scale our cloud services that connect, monitor, and optimize HVAC systems worldwide. You’ll work on distributed systems that process large-scale telemetry data, enable smart automation, and power advanced analytics.

What You’ll Do

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services in Node.js.
• Work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis to design efficient data flows and models.
• Integrate and scale services within AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS/SNS).
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and data teams to deliver high-quality APIs and microservices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices.
• Contribute to system monitoring, logging, and performance optimization using Elastic Stack and CloudWatch.

What We’re Looking For

• 3–5 years of experience in backend development.
• Solid knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript, and RESTful API design.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB, and familiarity with Redis caching.
• Understanding of cloud architecture and scalable service design.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in distributed environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with ClickHouse or other analytical databases.
• Familiarity with IoT, device telemetry, or message queues (SQS/SNS).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
