Job Description

As a Backend Engineer in the Nile group, you’ll build internal products and tools, used by thousands of Wix backend engineers. Our solutions and backend platforms, powers how Wix operates and evolves its production environment. You’ll design and implement applicative infra tools that streamline the process of writing backend services at Wix, helping engineers deliver with confidence and speed.

In your day-to-day, you will:

• Build scalable backend platforms that allow other backend engineers at Wix to easily create their backend services while focusing on their business logic
• From idea to production, you’ll have full ownership; understand use cases and gather product requirements, design, code, alpha support, and ongoing maintenance
• Collaborate closely with product managers and other backend engineers (our users) to bring ideas to life quickly and with quality. We focus on adoption and are committed to supporting our users
• Improve our CDC (Change Data Capture) solutions, allowing for hundreds of Wix backend engineers to easily and rapidly migrate their data

Qualifications

• Solid Backend Experience - 5+ years working with server-side technologies (Scala / Java is a plus, but strong backend fundamentals are key), proficient in maintaining critical services and libraries
• Technical Depth - Comfortable moving between high-level architecture and deep technical details. Passionate about designing scalable, distributed systems with a focus on resilience, performance, and clean, maintainable code, and comfortable working in production environments
• Developer Empathy - You care about making life easier for other developers and improving devex
• Collaboration Skills - Great communicator, great teammate; With Strong communication skills in both Hebrew and English and a willingness to help others - our service supports thousands of engineers at Wix

We are a part of Wix's Backend Engineering Guild. We provide integrated tools for microservice development within Wix, to help improve developer productivity and best practices. These tools streamline the development process and reduce cognitive load, allowing Wix Engineers to concentrate on their domain, architecture, and business logic. To handle high-scale traffic (over 500B HTTP requests per day) and 500+ daily deployments, our team of 500 Backend Engineers runs production across 19 distributed data centers and cloud vendors worldwide.
