Position Overview

Backline is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team and take ownership of building robust, cloud-native services and AI Agents. You'll leverage deep Java ecosystem knowledge to create intelligent remediation systems while building scalable backend services in Python and Go. You'll own features end-to-end - from planning and design through implementation, database design, CI/CD setup, and production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and own scalable backend services using Python and Go to power our AI Agent platform.
• Design AI systems that understand and automatically remediate security issues in Java codebases and SDLC processes.
• Design and implement secure, high-performance APIs and CI/CD pipelines for scalable distributed systems.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.
• Tackle tough problems and design creative solutions to solve them.
• Lead technical architecture decisions and participate in code reviews while maintaining high coding standards across the entire codebase.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of end-to-end software development experience.
• Deep Java ecosystem expertise: JDK/JRE, Maven, Gradle, Spring Framework, Eclipse/IntelliJ.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Go for cloud-native development.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with databases, CI/CD, and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of backend concepts, including API design, data modeling, authentication, authorization, and caching.
• Testing experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks.
• Clear communication, product mindset, and ability to partner with cross-functional teams in a startup environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - or equivalent practical experience.
