Job Description
About the Role
Token Security is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer / DevOps Architect to be the founding DevOps hire. This person will define the infrastructure strategy, build scalable systems, and establish the foundations for security, reliability, and developer productivity. Unlike a typical senior DevOps role, this position requires a strategic leader who can both design the big picture and execute it hands-on, while gradually building out a team.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure Strategy & Ownership
Define the vision and roadmap for cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) across environments.
Make foundational decisions on architecture, tooling, and processes.
Hands-On Engineering
Build and maintain secure, highly available infrastructure for production workloads.
Establish CI/CD frameworks and automate infrastructure with Terraform, Kubernetes, and other modern tools.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with engineering, security, and product teams to align infrastructure with company goals.
Introduce and enforce best practices in DevOps, cloud security, and operations.
End-to-End Scope
Own and orchestrate areas beyond pure DevOps: developer environments, IT, security posture, and customer-facing operations.
Set priorities and lead the evolution of these domains with minimal oversight.
Scalability & Team Building
Prepare the foundations for scaling the DevOps function.
Mentor engineers, and help hire and shape a future DevOps/SRE team.
Requirements
Experience: 7–10+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability, or Cloud Infrastructure roles, including significant time in lead or architect-level positions.
Cloud Mastery: Deep expertise with AWS, Azure, or GCP; proven experience designing and running production systems at scale.
Architectural Vision: Strong track record of setting technical direction, choosing tools, and implementing large-scale infrastructure strategies.
DevOps & Automation: Advanced skills with IaC (Terraform, Ansible), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
Security & Compliance Awareness: Ability to integrate security, IT, and compliance considerations into infrastructure design.Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to work cross-functionally, influence stakeholders, and guide without constant direction.
Nice to Have
Experience as the first DevOps/SRE hire in a startup or fast-growing SaaS company.
Exposure to multi-cloud strategies and hybrid architectures.
Background in identity, security, or compliance-driven environments.
