About LightSolver

LightSolver is a dynamic and innovative startup, where a new computing paradigm is being developed. Our state-of-the-art all-optical platform utilizes the natural properties of light together with novel algorithms to solve some of the most demanding computational tasks, such as hard optimization problems and partial differential equations. We specialize in developing cutting-edge optical systems and technologies based on coupled lasers, that push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Job Description

We are seeking a Physics/EE Ph.D./M.Sc. with strong hands-on experience in complex optical and laser systems to join our algorithm-physics team. You will be working on designing, developing, implementing and optimizing cutting-edge algorithms for coupled-laser systems. The role requires understanding of Fourier optics, optical systems, laser theory, image processing, scientific coding and algorithm development in python/MATLAB as well as creativity, problem solving and a passion to realize innovative ideas.

Key Responsibilities

·       Develop and optimize calibration procedures for laser-based computing platforms.

·       Develop and execute experiments (remotely on the system) to characterize the system, analyze data, and iterate system improvements.

·       Develop research tools to analyze data and enhance the performance of laser-based systems.

·       Play a key role in the development of prototypes for new optical configurations and laser applications.

·       Creatively solve technical problems and find new solutions.

Requirements

·       Ph.D./M.Sc. in Physics/EE/equivalent fields (Ph.D. - advantage) with a focus on lasers or complex optical systems.

·       At least 2 years of hands-on R&D experience in industry or as a postdoc, working with laser-related systems.

·       Optics related algorithm development and implementation, Fourier optics, optical systems, laser theory, image processing.

·       Ability to work independently, conduct independent research, learn and adapt.

·       Creative, resourceful, self-motivated, initiative, and able to drive projects from concept to implementation.

·       Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

·       Collaborate closely with system, algorithms, hardware, and software teams.

·       Fluency in Python/MATLAB

Preferred skills

·       Knowledge of laser’s phase locking mechanisms and calibration procedures.

·       Experience in working with Spatial Light Modulators (SLMs).

·       Deep understanding of optics, laser theory, knowledge in optics simulations and modelling of experimental designs.

·       Familiarity with photonics and optical free-space advanced optical architectures.

·       Experience with development of partial differential equations solvers.

If you are a creative, hands-on physicist who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and is eager to implement innovative concepts and develop and implement calibration algorithms in state-of-the-art optical hardware, we would love to hear from you.
