As a Backend Team Lead, you will play a key role in helping Anchor scale. You’ll work closely with product managers & full-stack team lead, drive outcomes, and contribute directly to the company’s mission and culture. Responsibility

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers.
  • Own and drive technical design and implementation of backend services in Go, using Postgres, Neo4j, NATS, RabbitMQ, and an event-driven architecture.
  • Split your time between hands-on coding and people leadership (about 50/50).
  • Identify your engineers’ needs and set them up for success.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, frontend, and other teams to deliver features smoothly.
  • Be proactive in spotting areas for improvement, whether in system reliability, scalability, or team processes.
  • Champion Anchor’s values and help shape our growing engineering culture
  • Hold high quality standards, care deeply about clean code, strong testing, and building systems that last.
  • Own the operational side as well, jump in and help lead production issues, including during unusual after-hours situations when needed.


Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a backend engineer, ideally in a web environment.
  • 2+ years of experience leading R&D teams (backend focus preferred).
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
  • High level of ownership, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to learn (and teach of course).
