About LightSolver

LightSolver is a dynamical and innovative startup, where a new computing paradigm is being devised. Our state-of-the-art all-optical platform utilizes the natural properties of light and unique algorithmic layers to solve some of the most demanding computational tasks, such as hard optimization problems and partial differential equations. We specialize in developing cutting-edge optical systems and technologies based on coupled lasers, that push the boundaries of what’s possible.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer with a strong background in digital hardware, mixed-signal circuit development, software and embedded firmware.

In this role, you will define, integrate, and optimize electronic subsystems for our cutting-edge laser-based computing platform, guiding projects from the proof-of-concept stage through to full product realization. You will also oversee hardware/software (HW/SW) integration and ensure the continuous, reliable operation of our current systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Design & Integration: Architect, define system and its sub modules requirements and interfaces, lead integration of electronic modules for complex coupled laser platforms, ensuring seamless interaction between hardware, software and mechanical components.
  • Specifications: Define, document and manage detailed technical specifications for electronic boards, circuits, and firmware, ensuring alignment with system requirements and product goals. Serve as the primary technical interface with suppliers and manufacturers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Productization: Drive the transformation of functional prototypes into robust, manufacturable products. Define and implement processes for design transfer, testing, and quality assurance, ensuring reliable performance in real-world conditions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with physicists, optical and mechanical engineers, software developers, and other team members to ensure robust system performance and rapid iteration.
  • Documentation: Generate clear, thorough design documentation, test reports, and user guides to support manufacturing and future development.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in system engineering roles with a focus on electronics design and firmware.
  • Experience in taking hardware systems from prototype to production, including design for manufacturability, lifecycle management and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge in writing detailed technical specifications for electronic systems that integrate both HW and embedded firmware components.
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating electronic hardware with embedded software, including defining and implementing HW/SW interfaces (e.g., firmware, drivers, communication protocols) across Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Familiarity with the requirements of product documentation, testing, and support for shipped hardware products.
  • Fluency in Python.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills both in English and Hebrew.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, working in multidiscipline projects (combining electronics, mechanics, optics, SW etc.).
  • Independence and self-drive, fast learning skills.

Preferred skills

  • Experience with PCB and analog and mixed-signal circuits design using EDA tools, layout, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and digital interfaces.
  • Knowledge in mechanical stability, heat transfer and electro-optic or laser products.
  • Understanding of analog and mixed-signal electronics, signal integrity, and noise mitigation.
  • Acquaintance with integration methodology including automation, testing and data analysis.

  • If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of laser physics and electronics, and eager to work on groundbreaking technologies, we would love to hear from you.
