What is this opportunity?
We are seeking a sharp, execution-focused
Data Science Team Leader to join our AI & Data Group. The DS team plays a central role in our product development, combining algorithmic thinking with strong engineering to build production-grade AI features that power our core platform.
You'll help us shape the next generation of AI-native features that support clinicians, including documentation assistance, summarization, clinical signal extraction, and more.
You will lead a group of talented data scientists working on real-world challenges - from processing clinical audio data, to applying machine learning to speech and language, to deploying robust models that impact clinicians and patients alike. The team works in a hybrid model: embedded within product pods, and on strategic projects at the platform level.
This is a hands-on leadership position. You’ll be expected to code, support architectural decisions, and guide the team’s work from idea to production. You’ll report to the AI Group Manager, and be a key figure in the continued success and growth of our AI capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Technical Leadership
- Lead a growing team of 5–6 data scientists working on both pod-integrated and platform-level AI initiatives
- Provide hands-on technical guidance in areas like LLM architecture, classical ML, hybrid pipelines, and data-centric ML workflows.
- Recruit, coach, and grow team members across research, engineering, and delivery dimensions.
- Support and develop team members through mentorship, code reviews, and technical guidance
Modeling & Engineering Execution
- Design and implement models across the ML spectrum — LLMs, classical ML, neural networks, and hybrid architectures.
- Drive experimentation with MM-LLMs, agentic workflows, and prompt-based solutions tailored for behavioral healthcare.
- Guide smart tradeoffs between modeling complexity, performance, inference cost, and integration fit.
- Collaborate deeply with Infra and data engineers to ensure models are deployable, observable, and scalable in production environments.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Group Leadership, Engineering, Product, and Clinical SMEs to turn abstract problems into concrete, testable, and explainable solutions.
- Translate user and clinical needs into viable ML products that deliver measurable impact.
- Actively contribute to architectural decisions involving data pipelines, APIs, and service-level integration of ML components.
Who are you?
- 5+ years of experience in applied ML or data science, with at 3 years of team leadership.
- Deep experience with NLP or LLMs — including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, or RAG-style pipelines. Especially audio, speech-to-text, or classic ML
- Solid background in classical ML, deep learning (CNNs, RNNs, DNNs), and feature engineering across varied data types.
- Strong engineering foundation — you’ve built and shipped production-grade ML services, and understand backend systems, APIs, and infrastructure fundamentals.
- Fluent in Python and modern ML tooling (PyTorch, Hugging Face, MLflow, Docker, Airflow).
- Experienced in working with MLOps, data engineering, and cloud infrastructure
- Excellent communicator, pragmatic thinker, and collaborative leader.
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
