Software Engineer — Biological Image Analysis For the Systems Pathology Lab, Weizmann Institute
The Keren Systems Pathology Lab at the Weizmann Institute is at the forefront of cancer research, studying the intricate interactions between the immune system and tumors. We specialize in cutting-edge high-dimensional imaging technologies that enable deep molecular profiling of human specimens. To extract meaningful insights from these complex datasets, we develop advanced computer vision and Al algorithms. Our ultimate goal is to achieve a systems-level understanding of cancer-immune interactions to drive the development of improved diagnostics and treatments. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a specialized software for cell classification from multiplexed images. This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of Al, software engineering, and biomedical research in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Develop and maintain a high-performance software for biological image analysis.
*Implement new functionalities, features and pipelines, write tests, and optimize performance to ensure robustness and scalability.
*Design and implement workflows for seamless deployment across multiple platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux).
*Address user feedback, including feature requests, bug fixes, and user support.
Requirements:
*B.Sc. in computer science, software engineering or related field.
*3+ years of experience in Python development.
*3+ years of experience as a full stack software engineer.
*Background in Al, machine learning or biological image analysis.
*Strong understanding of performance optimization techniques, particularly in image rendering, GPI-J acceleration, and efficient data processing (a significant advantage).
*Familiarity with PyQt, OpenCV, and pandas (a plus).
Why Join Us?
The Keren Lab is located on the beautiful Weizmann Institute campus, offering a collaborative and stimulating research environment. We are a passionate, interdisciplinary team dedicated to advancing science and cancer research while fostering an open, fun, and innovative workplace. If you are excited about applying your engineering expertise to cutting-edge biomedical research, wed love to hear from you!
