We are looking for a talented hands-on manager for our Computer Vision team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of computer vision engineers and researchers in developing and implementing computer vision algorithms and technologies, with a specific focus on using computer vision for monitoring animals.

This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of computer vision principles and techniques, particularly in the context of animal monitoring and edge devices. The candidate will also work closely with animal experts to ensure the development of effective and robust solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of computer vision engineers and researchers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Develop and implement computer vision algorithms for animal monitoring applications, such as tracking and behavior analysis, specifically optimized for edge devices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including animal experts, software developers, Devops engineers, and product managers to understand project requirements and develop innovative solutions that address specific animal monitoring challenges, taking all constraints into consideration.
  • Design and optimize computer vision systems for animal monitoring on edge devices, considering factors such as limited computational resources, power consumption, and real-time processing requirements.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in computer vision and edge computing, and explore opportunities for incorporating them into our projects.
  • Lead the planning and execution of computer vision projects for animal monitoring on edge devices, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, assisting in problem-solving and troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Give detailed presentations to stakeholders, showcasing the performance of developed algorithms.
  • Collaborate closely with animal experts to understand their needs and requirements, ensuring the development of effective and ethical computer vision solutions for animal monitoring on edge devices.
  • Manage work of contractors dedicated for ad-hoc POC projects.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in leading and managing a team, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • 5 years of proven experience in computer vision research and development, with a focus on algorithm design and implementation.
  • Strong programming skills in Python for computer vision applications, including familiarity with popular computer vision libraries and frameworks such as OpenCV, TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Solid understanding of computer vision principles, machine learning techniques, and deep learning frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Expertise with edge computing technologies and optimization techniques for computer vision applications on resource-constrained edge devices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Git and git-flow like processes
