R&D Manager – Computer Vision
Position Overview:
A startup in the field of minimally invasive endovascular decision support, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to establish and lead a high-performing software and algorithm team. This role involves nurturing & building a multi-disciplinary team, managing external subcontractors, and driving the development of scalable, high-performance AI-powered solutions for medical technologies.
The position requires a mix of hands-on development work (70%) and leadership (30%), ensuring seamless integration of front-end interfaces with back-end systems and computer vision algorithms to support cutting-edge medical technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Building and Management:
Recruit, onboard, and mentor an intimate team of software and algorithm developers to establish a strong internal software team.
Identify and manage subcontractors and external vendors for specialized software development needs.
Create and maintain a collaborative and innovative team culture, ensuring alignment with CoPilotMD's mission and goals.
Leadership and Strategic Oversight (30%):
Define project roadmaps, allocate resources, and manage development timelines.
Foster collaboration across cross-functional teams, including product, clinical, and regulatory groups.
Hands-On Development and Technical Contributions (70%):
Oversee technical architecture, design and implement end-to-end AI-powered solutions related to computer vision applications, including minor front-end projects, major back-end systems, cloud-based data storage and computing
Optimize software for performance, scalability, and reliability in real-time medical environments. Monitor and refine software post-deployment to enhance performance and usability.
Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and ensure best practices in software development.
Quality Assurance and Performance Monitoring:
Implement automated testing and continuous integration pipelines to ensure code quality.
Establish KPIs and benchmarks for software performance and reliability.

Educational Background:
Master’s degree in computer science, AI, Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
At least 5+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack software development.
3 years+ of managerial experience, including team-building responsibilities or managing subcontractors.
Proven track record of delivering scalable, high-performance software solutions, preferably in healthcare or digital health.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Python & C++/C#/Go
Strong experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL), RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of secure coding practices, data encryption, and compliance standards (HIPAA, GDPR).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with real-time systems or edge computing for healthcare applications.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., FDA, CE marking) for medical device software.
Understanding of AI/ML integration within full-stack applications.
