Responsibilities

At Microsoft Security, we are at the forefront of AI-driven cybersecurity, helping customers protect their environments from emerging threats. We are looking for an experienced Senior Applied Scientist to join our dynamic team and apply cutting-edge machine learning and AI techniques to solve real-world security challenges.

What You’ll Do

• As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will work at the intersection of security, AI, and large-scale data. You’ll collaborate with security experts, engineers, and product managers to develop innovative solutions that detect malicious activities and enhance cybersecurity defense mechanisms.
• Develop and apply generative AI, supervised and unsupervised learning, graph algorithms, anomaly detection, and statistical modeling to improve security solutions.
• Own projects end-to-end: from ideation and research to production deployment, ensuring impactful results.
• Work with diverse teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and security researchers, in a highly collaborative environment where knowledge-sharing is key.
• Translate complex problems into scalable, real-world solutions that help customers stay ahead of threats.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership within the team, helping shape best practices and drive innovation.
  
  

Qualifications

Who You Are:

We are looking for a senior-level data scientist who is passionate about the intersection of AI and security, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys tackling complex challenges.

What You Bring

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience in applied machine learning and data science in a product environment, preferably in security or a related domain.
• You have experience in cybersecurity, including understanding threat detection, network security, or adversarial ML.
• You have the ability to take projects from research to production, bridging theory and real-world application.
• You have analytical skills and the ability to work with large-scale data in cloud environments.
• You have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive team environment.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with security data and ML to develop capabilities for security products.
• Familiarity with large-scale graph analytics and deep learning architectures.
  
  

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
