Head of Data Science

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Data Science to lead our data-driven initiatives and drive innovation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Data Science, Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and deploying Large Language Models (LLMs) in production. Additionally, experience with AWS cloud services is critical for this role. As the Head of Data Science, you will spearhead the design, development, and implementation of advanced data models and strategies, guiding the company toward data-centric decisions and product enhancements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers in developing state-of-the-art models and algorithms, with a focus on scaling data science capabilities and deploying LLMs in production environments.
• Define the strategic roadmap for Data Science, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering a data-driven culture across the organization.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams (engineering, product, business) to integrate AI/ML and LLM solutions into products and services, ensuring measurable impact on key metrics.
• Oversee the research and development of new algorithms, techniques, and methodologies in ML, NLP, and LLMs, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
• Ensure the optimization, fine-tuning, and scalability of LLM and other models in production environments, implementing best practices for model governance, performance monitoring, and risk management.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship, fostering the professional growth of team members, and championing innovation and continuous improvement.
• Drive the development of scalable, robust data pipelines and infrastructures on AWS to support large-scale data analysis, model training, and LLM integration.
• Lead efforts in gathering, processing, and analyzing large datasets to extract actionable insights, identifying opportunities for business growth through data science and AI.

Requirements 

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience leading data science projects, with extensive experience in NLP, ML, AI, and deploying LLMs in production environments.
• Proven experience in managing and scaling Data Science teams, with a track record of delivering impactful AI/ML solutions integrated with LLMs.
• Strong expertise in programming languages such as Python and proficiency with relevant libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, NLTK, Transformers, Hugging Face).
• Deep expertise in AWS cloud platforms (SageMaker, EC2, S3, Lambda) and distributed computing environments to build and maintain machine learning solutions.
• Demonstrated experience in deploying large-scale ML/NLP and LLM models in production, with an emphasis on model optimization, scalability, MLOps, and ethical AI practices.
• In-depth knowledge of deep learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and advanced NLP techniques, including Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) for LLMs.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams and stakeholders.
• Experience with the logistics industry or other high-impact domains is an advantage.
