About the Role:
As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and deployment of our software products and infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate processes, enhance system performance, and ensure smooth operations.
Your daily routine:
Assist in building and maintaining a continuous integration pipeline to enable efficient software development and deployment.
Support the implementation and maintenance of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices and tools for provisioning and configuring environments.
Collaborate with software development teams to integrate automated testing, quality assurance, and monitoring into the CI pipeline.
Assist in the management and optimization of cloud-based infrastructure (AWS plus Kubernetes) to ensure scalability, availability, and security.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure, deployments, and application performance in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Contribute to the improvement of DevOps processes and practices through the identification of areas for automation, optimization, and efficiency gains.
Be a part of our Level 3 Support rota, handling occasional escalation of patient-affecting production issues.
Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, DevOps, cloud technologies, and automation tools.
Work with our tech stack, the core of which is as follows: Terraform and Terragrunt deploy to an AWS-native infrastructure where NodeJS and some Golang run in EKS and some ECS. We use PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ to handle data, and monitor with Grafana and Datadog.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience - 1-3 years).
Has an enthusiasm for learning about systems and technologies - both the ones we already use, and new ones we’d like to introduce to the company.
Understands software development processes, version control systems (e.g., Git), and Agile methodologies.
Has familiarity with CI tools and practices, such as Jenkins or Github Actions.
Knows scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python) for automation and task scripting.
Has some experience of containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
Brings strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills, with an ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Is excellent at collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work
effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Has strong attention to detail and an understanding that a good process is the best way to produce consistent results and provide a reliable foundation for the company’s offering.
Is familiar with AWS or any other major cloud platform.
Speaks fluent English.
