Gentex is a global leader in high-tech electronic products for the automotive, aerospace and commercial fire protection markets.

Gentex Technologies Israel – GTI, is the Israeli R&D center of Gentex, located in Tel-Aviv. We are focused on developing the next generation of automotive AI technology for in-cabin and driver monitoring applications and serve as Gentex’s AI center-of-excellence. At GTI developing the cutting-edge in in-cabin monitoring starts with fully owning the process of data collection, annotation, and validation. Our data & validation team designs, builds and runs data collection setups, collection campaigns and validation/homologation efforts. Our data & validation team is responsible for our unique, and growing, database of clips and images of 1000’s of drivers from around the world.

What are we looking for? 

We are looking for an experienced data engineer, to take a central part in the scaling up of our data collection for deep-learning operations, as we are closing in on our product release. We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated, individual, with technical and communication skills willing to work hard and make an impact.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:  

1. Develop and implement data engineering processes and tools for our data collection activities, supporting machine vision/deep learning algorithms development. 

2. Develop Data Visualization tools and Dashboards:

• Design and create detailed dashboards to visualize data effectively (e.g. using Amazon QuickSight)
• Extract and communicate valuable insights from data to aid strategic planning and decision-making processes.

3. Develop processes and pipelines for Data Management:

• Manage data storage solutions using AWS S3, ensuring the integrity and security of raw data.
• Implement robust data backup and recovery protocols.
• Oversee cloud cost management.

4. Perform Data Analysis and Scripting:

• Use Python to develop pipelines for data cleaning and organization.
• Develop complex queries to support data accessibility by Algorithm engineers (e.g. using Athena).
• Optimize data retrieval processes to support analytics and business intelligence activities.

5. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on data collection and data handling best practices.

6. Work closely with our algorithm development teams as well as Gentex’s global R&D and product. 

Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology / electrical engineering / computer science. 
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a data engineering role.
• Proficiency in Python and its data-related libraries (Pandas, Numpy, etc.).
• Experience with data visualization tools and AWS services.
• Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional team environment.
• Ability to communicate coherently with different stakeholders. Ability to clearly document concepts and procedures. Good command of English.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
